World Map: Regions, Hubs and Exploration Layers

Research checked October 9, 2026 · 7 min read

The base-world map is organized around Vermund, Battahl and Agamen Volcanic Island. Use Vernworth as the early story and service hub, Checkpoint Rest Town for the border route, and the southern island for several vocation-related destinations. Keep ordinary-world locations, the Unmoored World and Norgan separate, because an older base-game map is not a verified complete map of the later world states and expansion.

Vermund and its useful settlements

Vermund contains Vernworth, Melve, Harve, Sacred Arbor and the Nameless Village. These settlement names are useful starting points for organizing early story objectives, services and optional journeys. Treat them as distinct destinations rather than assuming that every quest in the region begins at the same city marker.

Vernworth is particularly useful because Brant and several services connect to the early campaign there. Melve and Harve are also relevant to the researched Sigurd encounters, while the Nameless Village has its own investigation route. Grouping destinations by region helps plan a journey without pretending a settlement marker contains every entrance or NPC interaction required by a quest.

Battahl and Bakbattahl

Battahl centers on Bakbattahl in the researched regional overview. It belongs in a separate region section when you organize story objectives and travel destinations. A place on the map gives orientation, but reaching its region still depends on the route and story context available to your save.

Checkpoint Rest Town is a useful reference for the border route between the earlier region and the next stage of the adventure. Do not infer that every visible road guarantees an immediately usable crossing. Compare the intended destination with your current story objective before assuming that a line on a map removes all progression requirements.

Agamen Volcanic Island

The island's researched destinations include Volcanic Island Camp, the hot springs and the Excavation Site. It is useful to distinguish those places when planning a southern journey. Reaching the island as a broad region does not automatically complete the particular NPC or quest interaction you came to pursue.

The Magick Archer guide connects the southern route to Gautstafr, Cliodhna and the hot-springs escort. The vocation guide gives the wider unlock context. Use those focused routes alongside regional orientation rather than inventing a single island marker that unlocks every advanced class.

Read maps in separate layers

A practical map distinguishes settlements, quest NPCs, cave entrances, collectibles and travel points. Those categories answer different questions: where services are, where an objective begins, where you enter an interior, and where a pickup is found. Keeping them separate makes the map easier to use without confusing one symbol for another type of destination.

An NPC in a settlement and a collectible inside a nearby cave need different levels of detail. A regional view can orient you toward the settlement, while the cave pickup may need an interior reference. Use the source map or focused walkthrough with the appropriate detail instead of assuming every broad pin supplies an exact item position.

Cave entrances and quest interiors

Several researched quest routes continue below or beyond the visible settlement destination. The Nameless Village has hidden depths, and the magistrate's book requirement leads to an underground archive. Those examples show why a surface destination alone is not a full navigation solution for every quest.

Use the Nameless Village walkthrough and Caged Magistrate guide for those interior routes. The map's job is to get you oriented, while the focused page explains the concealed entrance or prerequisite discovery. Keep the route and the quest condition together so you do not revisit a surface marker without solving the underlying objective.

Oxcarts and Ferrystone destinations

Oxcart routes are a different travel system from Ferrystone destinations. A road connection and a Portcrystal marker should not be treated as equivalent map objects. Decide which travel method you intend to use before interpreting a route guide or comparing the next destination with the travel points already available in your save.

The Portcrystal guide separates fixed destinations from portable placements and reflects the researched later travel update. Use it to check whether a convenient point is an actual fixed crystal or merely a suggested location for one you place yourself. That distinction prevents recommendations from being mistaken for already existing objects on the map.

Collectibles need a collection route

Seeker's Token collection benefits from a regional route rather than repeatedly scanning an entire world map. Keep a record of collected locations and distinguish a cave entrance from a pickup inside it. This avoids counting the same collectible again when you return through a familiar area.

The Seeker's Token guide links the researched exact-position references and separates reward targets from the full base-world dataset. It also explains why your first pickup deserves a personal note for the Sphinx. Regional planning and exact pickup identification work together, but one does not replace the other.

Use a separate Unmoored World reference

The Unmoored World changes terrain and objectives, including the coastline. A normal-world map can help with familiar settlement names but is not a complete representation of the alternative endgame. Keep that world state separate when planning red-beacon threats, evacuations and equipment exploration.

The Unmoored guide identifies its early recovery steps and the final progression trigger. Use it when the question is an endgame route rather than ordinary-world travel. Treating the changed state as a separate layer prevents a familiar road or normal-world objective from being assumed unchanged without evidence.

Norgan is expansion coverage

Norgan is the expansion's new region and should be distinguished from the established base-world maps. The collected older maps orient the original adventure, not an exhaustive set of verified expansion coordinates. Use expansion-specific routes when the question concerns the new northern story or its equipment systems.

The Dark Arisen guide explains entry through Brant and the recommended starting levels for the added adventures. It also separates Norgan from Lost Rites in the existing world. Those distinctions give the expansion a useful navigation context without claiming that a 2024 map already contains every later location.

Plan the next journey by purpose

First identify your current world state and the specific goal: story conversation, service, cave objective, collectible or travel destination. Then choose the appropriate regional reference and focused guide for the final step. This approach is more reliable than treating every map pin as the same type of place.

The source maps below provide orientation and location resources for the established regions. No measured world area, exhaustive current cave count or unverified expansion coordinates are added here. Use the regional overview to choose a direction, then let the relevant quest or collection route answer what you need to do once you arrive.

Common questions

Are all map markers equivalent destinations? A settlement, cave entrance, interior pickup and travel point answer different navigation questions. Use the relevant layer and a focused guide for the final approach. Reaching a broad region or village marker does not automatically complete a hidden-entrance investigation or establish the precise position of an interior collectible.

Can an old base-world map cover every current region? The older base-world maps orient Vermund, Battahl and Agamen Volcanic Island. The Unmoored World has changed terrain and objectives, while Norgan adds a separate expansion region. Keep those scopes distinct instead of advertising an original map as complete later coverage without verified new locations.

What should I check before relying on a road? Compare the destination with your current story state and available travel methods. A visible connection does not guarantee that a border crossing is presently usable or that an oxcart route is a Ferrystone destination. Use the regional map for orientation and the quest or travel guide for the actual requirement.
