The Stolen Throne: Courtly Clothes and Masquerade Walkthrough

The Stolen Throne requires formal clothing, Brant's Eventide Mask and a masquerade night at Vernworth Hall. Once inside, the route continues through a concealed doorway rather than a conversation with every guest. This guide covers entry and the investigation; it contains quest spoilers.
Start with Captain Brant
Visit the Stardrop Inn in Vernworth at night and speak to Captain Brant about the masquerade. Follow him when he moves away from the bar, accept the assignment and keep the Eventide Mask he supplies. Check your quest journal before heading to the castle.
Where to find courtly clothes
Search the upstairs bedrooms of the Comptroller's Home in Vernworth's Noble Quarter. The Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches are in separate rooms, so inspect both. Equip the two clothing pieces and Eventide Mask; carrying them in your inventory alone does not complete your disguise.
The masquerade is not every night
Go to Vernworth Hall on the western side of the castle grounds after dark. If the guard says there is no masquerade, advance to another night and return. An inactive event and an incomplete outfit are different problems: check the guard's dialogue before replacing your clothing.
Find the hidden passage
After the arrival scene, explore the corridor behind the main ballroom. Push against the concealed section of wall between the small rooms to open the passage. Follow the route toward the Rose Chateau and allow the encounter to finish.
Report your findings and keep the outfit
Return to Brant at the Stardrop Inn at night and report the masquerade findings. Keep your formal clothing for later visits that require it, including Myrddin's home during Spellbound and grimoire planning. For another investigation into the pretender, use The Nameless Village walkthrough.
Quick entry checklist
Before another castle trip, check three things: both Courtly pieces are equipped, the Eventide Mask is equipped, and tonight actually has a masquerade.
